Help & FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about the material, ordering, shipping and trade — in one place.

Material & safety

A wood-derived biopolymer: lignin (a by-product of paper-making) combined with wood fibres and vegetable waxes. There's no fossil-plastic feedstock, so products are biobased and plastic-free.

A growing range of everyday products from one material, across two lines: a home-compostable single-use range (currently including straws, cutlery, plates and drinkware) and an unbreakable reusable range. The material is the constant — the product range keeps expanding.

Yes — our products are made for food and beverage contact, and are designed to be free of BPA and melamine. For specific certificates or technical data sheets, just contact us.

No. Unlike many bioplastics, iWood is based on a paper-industry by-product and responsibly sourced wood fibres — not corn or sugarcane grown as feedstock.

Yes. The compostable range is heat-stable for hot drinks and won't bend or melt in normal use. For exact temperature limits on a specific product, see its page or ask our team.

The reusable range is shatterproof and impact-resistant — safe barefoot, poolside and on board, with no risk of broken glass. It's built for repeated daily use.

Composting & end-of-life

The compostable range is tested to biodegrade under controlled composting conditions (DIN EN ISO 14855). It's designed to break down in industrial and home composting, and in soil.

Both — and in soil. That means it still breaks down where industrial composting isn't available. Composting times vary with local conditions.

No. Rather than fragmenting into microplastics like conventional plastic, the compostable material is designed to biodegrade back into organic matter.

The reusable range is built for long-term use without losing its finish. When a piece is finally retired, it's designed to be recyclable.

Yes — they're designed for commercial dishwashers at low temperature, for repeated daily service.
