Most fossil-plastic products are made from oil and linger for centuries, fragmenting into microplastics. iWood takes a different route. Our home-compostable single-use range composts back into soil, while our unbreakable reusable range is built to last for years and is fully recyclable when finally retired. The same wood-derived material, designed around how it ends.

Industrial compost
In commercial composting, the single-use range breaks down alongside other organic waste — tested to DIN EN ISO 14855.
Home compost
It also composts in a home setting, so it works even where industrial facilities aren't available.
Back to soil
Left in soil, the material biodegrades rather than fragmenting into microplastics — returning to the ground it came from.
Reuse, then recycle
The reusable range is made to be used for years, then 100% recycled when it is finally retired from service.

The problem
Fossil plastic never really leaves
Conventional single-use plastic is made from oil. It can take centuries to break down, and instead of disappearing it fragments into microplastics that stay in soil, waterways and food chains. Recycling rates remain low, so most of it is burned or buried.

iWood products are made from a wood-derived biopolymer. The compostable range returns to soil through home or industrial composting, while the reusable range is used for years and then recycled. Either way, the material is designed to give back rather than linger.
