The material
A biopolymer grown from wood, not pumped from oil.
iWood replaces fossil plastic with a wood-derived material — lignin, wood fibres and vegetable waxes — engineered into a growing range of products that are biobased, plastic-free and built to perform.
Wood is the answer hiding in plain sight
Nature already makes a strong, rigid, renewable polymer — it's called wood. iWood recovers its building blocks and re-forms them into a material that behaves much like timber: warm to the touch, sturdy in the hand and stable in everyday use. No petroleum feedstock. No food crops. Just the chemistry of trees, put to work across a growing range of products.
Lignin
Nature's binder — the polymer that gives wood its strength. We recover it as a by-product of paper-making, so a waste stream becomes our raw material.
Wood fibres
PEFC-certified fibres add structure and the natural, tactile quality of wood, so each piece feels closer to timber than to plastic.
Vegetable waxes
Plant-based waxes finish the blend, aiding moulding and surface feel without a single petrochemical additive.
Low-temp moulding
The blend is shaped at low temperatures, keeping energy use and CO₂ down while forming precise, repeatable products.
The material in numbers
Heat-stable
Holds its shape where plastic would slump
The material is heat-stable to 70°C, so the single-use range stands up to hot drinks and warm service without softening or warping. It behaves like wood: rigid and dependable, not flimsy.
Sturdy & unbreakable
Engineered to be used, washed and trusted
Tuned for resilience, the reusable range is shatterproof and dishwasher-safe for years of real-world service — safe barefoot on deck, poolside and in busy hospitality, with none of the risk of glass.
Single-use
Compostable
Tuned to break down. After use, the single-use range biodegrades in industrial and home composting, and in soil — tested to DIN EN ISO 14855 — leaving no microplastics behind.
Premium reusable
Unbreakable
Tuned to last. The reusable range is shatterproof and dishwasher-safe for years of service, then 100% recyclable at end of life — a zero-waste alternative to rigid plastics.
Biobased & plastic-free
Made from wood-derived inputs — no fossil plastic, and no food crops used as feedstock.
Heat-stable to 70°C
Holds up to hot drinks and warm service in the single-use range without softening.
Low-CO₂ production
Low-temperature moulding keeps energy use and emissions down across every product.
Food-contact safe
Formulated for food and beverage contact, so the material is ready for real-world serving.
Proprietary material, made to a standard
iWood's formulations are proprietary and protected, and produced with manufacturing partners under controlled processes. We publish only the certifications and test results we can stand behind — each is being formally validated, and we'll share documentation on request.
